It seems that the first half of year 2008 is dominated by musicians and idols.

Korean Music Industrial Association announced total albums and singles sales for 2008 first semi. And the artiste who achieved the highest album sale is singer songwriter Kim Dong Ryul. He released his 5th album “Monologue” on 25th January, and had achieved total album sales of 107,608 copies.

And the artiste who was ranked second place on the same ranking for the first half of 2007 Epik High was at 3rd position this time with their 5th album “One” with total album sales of 74,684 copies. And coming back after 5 years, male duo group Brown Eyes achieved album sales of 64,911 copies in just 11 days, ranked at number 5th position. Both albums had allowed us to see the musical capabilities of both Tablo and Yoon Gun.

Even though there has been some stagnancy in the rock music genre, group Nell was able to achieve album sales of above 50,000 copies, standing at 7th position on the ranking.

Idol group ShinHwa stood at second place on the chart with their 9th premium album released for their 10th anniversary with album sales of 102,315 copies. So Nyeo Shi Dae stood at number 6 position on the chart with their debut album.

So Nyeo Shi Dae’s rival WonderGirls, which came out with “Tell Me” album last autumn is at 13th position on the chart, while their latest single “So Hot” stands at 12th position. While Big Bang member TaeYang stood at 11th position with his first solo minialbum “Hot” achieving a total of 36,662 copies for first half of year 2008. Super Junior’s live album is at 20th position and Super Junior Happy at 20th position.

4. SG Wannabe 5th - 67,189 copies
5. Brown Eyes 3rd - 64,911 copies

7. Nell 4th - 52,051 copies
8. Lee Seung Gi “When a man loves a woman VOL 2″ - 41,836 copies
9. Love Songs 2008 - 38,716 copies
10. Sung Shi Kyung 6th - 37,402 copies

Hmm....intersting list....
I guess popularity doesn't really equal better
album sales...I expected Wg, DBSK, and Suju
to be on the list considering they have lots of
fans who are crazy about them...
I expected Epik High and Sung Shi Kyung to be
on the list but I never knew Lee Seung Gi
was that popular as to beat Wondergirls Shocked

This list is for first half of 08 ^^

SUJU (aside from SUJU-T... plus considering the amount that a cd will sale, and that "Cookin? Cooking!" hasnt been out that long....) havent released an album since last year... And DBSK hasnt made a Korean album this year anyways, so they wouldnt be on the list.

WG only recently got their album out, (although Brown Eye Soul are popular, and just made a comeback, which is alot to why they have high sales... and they always have high sales alot of the time anyways.. and theyre really goood too....)and they did sell alot of the album. Compared to their last album, within a short time, there was an increase.

Maybe by the end of the year, they'll be on the list ^^
