Celebrities Cheer for Korean Olympic Team

Korean celebrities have formed a cheerleading squad to root for the Korean national teams at the Beijing Olympic Games next month.



Taking part in the 30-member cheerleading squad are rapper Crown J, actor/singer Im Chang-jung, comedian Park Joon-hyung, comediennes Shin Bong-seon and Park Kyung-rim, and show host Kang Byung-gyu, traditional singer Tae Jin-ah, show hostess/model Hyun Young, and many other celebrities.

Headed by former baseball player Kang, the all-star cheerleading team was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to support Korean athletes during the Olympic Games. Some of them will travel to Beijing to personally root for Korean athletes at the stadiums, while others will remain in Korea and lead public cheering sessions. The cheering team will be officially launched at a ceremony slated for Friday July 25th at the Olympic Hall in Seoul’s Olympic Park.
