Korean Version of "Hana Yori Dango"

After the mega popularity of Meteor Garden first in Taiwan back in 2001 and then subsequently Hanayori Dango in Japan in recent years, Korea is also set to have its very own version of Meteor Garden in 2008.

Popular Japanese anime, Hanayori Dango will be adapated into a Korean drama. The Taiwanese and Japanese version of the television drama has achieved phenomenal ratings during its run and the Japanese version which was shown on cable television achieved pretty good ratings and earning lots of fans in the process. The company which will be producing this is Group Eight whose previous works were Goong: Princess Hours and Fantasy Couple. The Japanese rights holder decided to work with Group Eight after learning about it’s production capability after viewing Goong S.

By releasing this exciting news first, Group Eight has created lots of anticipation and hype over who will be taking the roles ahead of the actual casting. Many netizens in fact are already posting and discussing furiously over who their ideal cast should be since the news broke yesterday.

With regards to the Korean F4, the production team revealed, “We will be choosing based on their similarities with the anime characters. We won’t be choosing based on how popular or how well-known they are.” The Korean version of Hanayori Dango is set at 24 episodes, each clocking in at 70 minutes and will be shown on television in the latter part of 2008.

It's actually the same thing for White Tower...there's the Taiwanese and 2 Japanese versions! [I watched neither (couldn't decide), but heard the J and K versions are good so I decided to read the original (translated) story.]

I don't mind them filming it since they want to...but I doubt I'll watch it. I've watched Meteor Garden 1 and 2, HYD 1 and I can't bring myself to watch them again and I don't even want to start on HYD 2...Sorry, but I am tired of such "Cinderella" plotlines with rich guy + poor girl + another rich guy who realises he like the poor girl too. Perhaps the Korean audience is new to such stories so they may like it a lot and the company still gets to profit.

I loved the Japanese version because it did not drag on with too many episodes. As long as they don't make it drag should be good to look at.

Anyways, i hope the korean ver. turns out to be really good too. I hope it wont be dissapointing. =]

anyways, I think this is cool, because I never watched the Japanese/original one so I'll just have to watch the Korean version =D

The thing about me is that even if I've already watch HYD, or dont like the characters, part of me always end up watching it because I have to know at least what its like :roll:

hmmm. i don't think yeh will take up this role anyway. she's progressing along very nicely and if she took up this role she will be sort of taking a step back into the whole rom-com highschool thing. i don't think she'll sacrifice her newly constructed "mature" image for this.. :P

but jjh will be quite suitable for that role. (: he can do the overbearing thing alright.

I noticed that Yoon Eun Hye is wanted for like A LOT of dramas lately. I like the Japanese version cuz they got to the point and the storyline was well put together. *even tho the jap was the only one I saw haha* and the actors/actresses portrayed the characters pretty well I thought. oh! and I wouldn't mind have Choi Si Won to be Hanazawa Rui. That'd be hott. Lol either way I hope this will be just as good. =]
