SHINee Interview

New contemporary band, SHINee, released their new song "Noona is so Pretty" on May 27, battling out Kpop idol stars Wonder Girls and Big Bang's Tae Yang, who also released their new albums on the same day. SHINee members humbly commented that it is not fair to compare Kpop veterans, such as Wondergirls and Big Bang, to themselves, who are merely a newbies that have just debuted. Nevertheless, the interest of netizens was hot, many curious to see the results of the first summer battle between YG-SM-JYP. The pressure was on and SHINee members felt quite a burden to show that they could be the next idol stars.

SHINee, "The instant the songs and MV came out for Wonder Girls and Big Bang, we listened to them," saying," We only thought the the songs were really good. The music videos were really cool too," showing their respect for their seniors in the industry.

Members said, "Because we don't have a computer in the dorm and we have a really busy schedule, we didn't get a chance to look at the internet. However, we heard the news from the people around us, but we still don't think that we are on the same level as our great seniors to stand shoulder-to-shoulder."

These newcomers are also rumored to be the 2nd generation DBSK by their fans. This comparison has surprised SHINee members, who have never thought they could be compared to one of Asia's most popular idol groups.

SHINee members said, "DBSK are the stars that we have dreamed of" and they are such respected seniors who are bigger than they could imagine. They shyly confessed that they never had the desire to become the next DBSK. They added," Such a comparison is still burdensome to us. We will work hard to become a group as accomplished as DBSK."

Even before their debut, they received explosive interest and eager anticipation. To this, SHINee members replied," We feel a lot of pressure. However, in reality it is very good. Whenever we get a positive response, we only think to work harder. Even while we're resting, we think of our friends and all the thoughts of our hardships disappear."

SHINee shed tears of joy after finishing their first debut performance.

SHINee member Jong Hyun, shared," After we finished our first debut performance, I saw the faces of all the people who worked so hard for us flashing past like a movie reel. It was an unforgettable moment and I was numb for an instant. We were doing an interview in our dressing room when I suddenly remembered my parents and tears started falling." He added, "It was a very emotional moment. I only thought that I must work harder in the future. I'm sure the other members were crying in their hearts."

SHINee recalled,"We were so nervous and shaking while waiting in line backstage. We couldn't even remember our lines or dance moves. But when we finally got on stage, our body and lips seemed to move automatically." They added," Coming back down from the stage, we were so embarrassed that we couldn't even look at the monitor. There was a lot of embarrassment and shyness about our first live stage."

SHINee also recalled their first fan meeting after their live performance on SBS Inkigayo that was set up at a nearby park for 800 fans who showed up, making members realize their new-found popularity. "We were surprised that so many fans showed up. It must be our young age to blame, we had a lot of 'noonas' (fan girls older than them). Many singers hear "oppa" (older brother) but we heard "Good job, well done."



SHINee's 5 members revealed the behind story of their casting.

8th grade middle school student, SHINee's youngest member Taemin said," I danced since I was in 3rd grade. I loved dancing. I ran when I heard that SM was holding an audition. I got casted with luck and that's why I'm here today." He added," Whenever I have free time I look up dance videos and I learn new dance moves. I'm happy to be a part of SHINee at such a young age."

Leader Onew said," When I entered high school, I had a burning desire to sing. I started to like music a lot. People around also complimented my singing, which fueled my dream of becoming a singer. During this time, I entered the SM Academy and got casted into SHINee."

Key said, "I wanted to be a singer ever since I was in elementary school. I got an opportunity to audition for SM in Daegu.

Minho, "I got lucky and was casted on the streets. Strangely, I liked showing off when I was young. I was really happy when got casted because my dream of becoming a singer was big too."

Jonghyun," I was active in a band during middle school. I participated in a lot of band performances and festivals. But one time, an SM representative saw me perform and I got casted. Afterward, I auditioned for SM and debuted with SHINee."

They shared that the five of them had to work together and create some strong bonds.

well i dont know about them being the 2nd gen DBSK but they sure sound humble as DBSK which is good, and respecting their seniors is a big plus in my book.

I really like their debut song... And what made me like them most is that they respect other people and also they really respect their seniors... Being the next DBSK??? Well it's not impossible as long as they are hardworking and still they will keep their feet in the ground when they become famous...
